THEMES

The themes of diversity, respect , tolerance,

self-esteem, friendship, trust, resilience, teamwork, risk management, critical thinking, mental health, emotional wellbeing and friendship are threaded seamlessly throughout the words and pictures to create a rich storyboard which can be used time and time again and in a myriad of ways in PSCHE and cross-curricular lesson planning. We have written them with Key Stages 1 and 2 in mind, though we have found that older children and adults gain pleasure from reading them and find them profoundly moving.

WHY CHOOSE A RUFF BUTTERFLY BOOK?

Our books stand out as a wonderful resource for PSCHE

and cross-curricular subjects.

We write about dark and light topics with an open heart and humour.

We write about things that  provoke thought

evoke emotion and elicit discussion.

We write about things that matter to the planet

at this pivotal time.

RESOURCES

Resource Pack for BO, ZERO TO HERO will soon be available to purchase from the Ruff Butterfly shop for use in the classroom or home school environment.

Full of ideas about how to use the story of Bo as a catalyst for learning in English, PSCHE , SMSC, FBV, Maths and Science, it is currently being trialed in primary schools prior to publication.

no art is worth the making,

unless it is done with imagination.

WORKSHOPS

We travel to Primary Schools with our Ruff Butterfly Workshop, promoting emotional wellbeing and dynamic story writing.

Below are a couple of reviews from children who took part in one of our half day workshops:

'Thank you for coming in to talk about your book. We can now understand it even more because you answered lots of our questions ! You helped us realise why pictures are sometimes very important in books and how just one picture can show many different stories. You were both so inspirational and now I would like to write a book of my own some day.'

Thanks a lot for coming in to talk to us, I am sure everyone enjoyed it as much as I did! The Q and A section helped us understand it so much more. The Forum Theatre was hilarious. The whole morning was so much fun.

Be who you are, whether inside or out is what I will take away with me.

Oscar Yr 6.
